A hosting product built on spare server capacity: an HTML5 front end with a WordPress and WooCommerce back end and a custom plugin.
The story
What started as a lark to support a separate product turned into a viable product taking advantage of substantial unused capacity on a leased server. Codifying this took a bit of work.
The front-end is built with HTML5 and CSS3 for speed and until 2014 relied on external eCommerce management through Infusionsoft. Changes required bringing transactional processing in-house and with WooCommerce being the best solution a WordPress backend was built to support this. Additionally, a custom-coded plugin communicates with the Plesk Server Management software to keep subscriptions in sync with customer payments.
When Pat retired, I took over the hosting products and ran them as a commercial enterprise until 2020.
